Bamboo Forest Canopy

Bamboo Forest on the Road to Hana

This is one of my very first gallery quality shots and was in part my inspiration to pursue Photography more seriously. This image was a part of my debut in my 2010 show.

This shot was taken in a bamboo forest on the Island of Maui in 2008. It was on a hike that we found along the road to Hana in a guide book where the trailhead description was something to the effect of “After mile marker 23, go .1 miles and park where-ever you can find enough space for your car, go over the berm and you will see a trail”. We were the only ones on the trail with the sun light choked out from the ground below because of the thick healthy forest of bamboo.  Native birds, the clacking sound of bamboo like uncut windchimes, and gently running streams were the only sounds we heard while hiking this trail.

Notes: These are low resolution images and I apologize for the watermark signature on my photographs as I feel it detracts from enjoying the image. However, with the ease of image piracy on-line they are necessary evils.
